LBJ woulda laughed his ass off

LBJ was once said to have planned to accuse an opponent of being a pig-fucker. His political advisors were incredulous and said you can't do that! You know it's untrue! LBJ reportedly said "I know that dipshit, I just want to hear'm stand up and deny it" Note to democrats: Denny Hastert hides pedophiles in the leadership of the House. OK? Denny Hastert is now bogeyman # 1...ask for his resignation...ask Tony Snow (aka...pigfucker) Does he support the despicable pedophilia culture in the republican leadership? How many page's have sued for sexual harassment? Does the Christian voter bloc support what will now and forever be known as "text paging"? It doesn't get much easier than this...a grounder that only Bill Buckner could miss. Pick it up and step on first. Paging Dr. Dean.......

Foley's Toast

This guy is a beaut..."do I make ya horny?" says the Congressman to the page .....how about "do I make your skin crawl?" So another republican bites the dust and resigns in disgrace a month before the elections. How many values voters will still vote for the pervert no longer technically on the ballot is hard to say but my guess is a lot. Should be an interesting referendum on whether it is worse to be a democrat or depraved predatory child molester. Ya can't make this shit up.

Woodward Speaks/Media Listens (finally)

So Woodward has a new book detailing some of failures of the Bushies leading up the war and is now informing the fawning media about how bad the situation in Iraq is. They were all up in arms this morning how damaging it may be to the admin and expressed such surprise that the attacks on US were "out of control". Where do these assholes live anyway? I'm pretty sure that anyone who cared to look could reasonably infer that things are fucked up badly in Iraq. But here is Big Russ and his ilk breathlessly telling us that NOW there is someone saying that the admin hasn't been coming clean on the actual events unfolding in Iraq. So, until Woodward comes out with the obvious to anyone paying the slightest attention, it doesn't register with these people. It is supposed to be their JOB to find out what is happening and then tell the public in an unbiased and truthful way. I admit it is much easier to jot down whatever bullshit the WH gives them and then pass it along as if it was real news but WTF? They seem to just be realizing just NOW that there is a clusterfuck in Iraq that may wind up making Vietnam looking like Club Med. What a bunch of clueless fucks.

Foley in FL

This is too funny....Mark Foley, a 52 year old Congressman requesting (via email) pictures of a 16 year old boy and asking questions like "what do you want for your birthday". I'm sorry but that spells GAY to me.....end of story. Not that there is anything wrong with it, unless of course you happen to be a Republican. For the anti-gay party, they sure seem to have a lot of gays. I think they call it Karma.

Hello Condi?

I forgot to call attention to the "hard hitting" interview Katie did with "scary smart" Condi on Sun. One of probing questions was how someone might ask Condi out on a date. Well, first you find a blind man with man on dog tendencies.....maybe Santorum knows someone.

Operation Shutdown?

Apparently Terrill Owens tried to make his own bed for the dirtnap....You would think his teamates would have tried first....Go figure.

Hearings

I guess that the retired Generals who testified about the fubar that is Iraq will be dismissed as shrill and grinding some ax or other by the righties. But you would think that somewhere, somehow, their sickening description of criminal negligence that brought us to the current disaster would resonate with serious people. The Fallows' "Blind into Baghdad" provides a coherent backdrop to the Batiste and Eaton testimony and confirms just how disgustingly bad Rummy and Cheney really were in ignoring any kind of post war planning. There is stupid, and then there is really stupid .....and then there is mind-numbingly unfucking real thumb up your ass stupid and these arrogant fucks are still in charge? At what point do the blind followers of the dipshit brigade start to think that maybe....just maybe, things aren't going so well. I really feel that if most Americans listened to the testimony of the retired military officers yesterday, there would be an acknowledgement that it ain't working....was never working before and ain't ever gonna work if the same jag-offs are still running things.

Interviews

Facinating interview with former Prez Clinton on MTP. Thoughtful, focused, reasonable...kinda presidential ya know. The fact that he got his ashes hauled in the Oval Office nothwithstanding, he understands complicated international relations better than anyone in the Bush adminstration. I can only wonder if 6 years after W leaves office, people will seek out his analysis and wisdom on the issues of the day. Let's face it, Clinton has crapped more intelligent things than Bush.

Pretty good smackdowns on the smarmy Chris Wallace also. What a douchebag that guy is...His dad must be so proud.

Me Crony su Crony?

Any casual observer of politics in the last 6 years...and when I say "casual", I mean any person not in a coma can probably agree that cronyism has been the hallmark of this administration. Pay to play?....you betcha! My quid to your quo? ....Fucking A right baby! When the most grossly incompetent and blatently corrupt can line up to profit in such an obscene way from the general public with very little uproar, I can come to only one inescapable conclusion...I gotta get me some cronies...yeah.

Weekend Tunes

Hat tip to Alterman a few weeks back on the Hacienda Brothers' Whats Wrong with Right. I never heard of country soul before but it's like pornography....you know it when you see (hear) it. Great for any occasion.

Miles and Miles

How many innings on a relief pitcher is too many? No one knows for sure but Scott Proctor has more out of the bullpen than any other pitcher this year. The Yankee reliever was back in there tonight in the 8th with a 4-1 lead despite the division being wrapped on Weds. night. Might it be time for some rest at this juncture with a full load of hurlers in the pen? More than a few detractors point to the perceived mileage and subsequent breakdown (in spectacular fashion) of Paul Quantrill a few years back. It may be an unfair comparison as Q had a history of arm trouble prior to the extra long work the Yanks asked of him but I wonder if caution might be a better approach at this point. Any thoughts?

The Sucker is You...

Last post on the torture legislation for a while hopefully.... but there is an old saying that if you find yourself at a poker table and you don't know who the sucker is...the sucker is you. I think the Dems might have sat down to play without knowing who the sucker was.

Is it Safe?

Had to have some dental work done today...some very unpleasant drilling and it got me thinking about torture and the scene in Marathon Man when Dustin Hoffman is being asked "is it safe" while being tortured with a dentist drill. I think I can speak for most of mankind when I say..."oh yeah it's safe...it's so motherfucking safe, you wouldn't believe it. It couldn't be any safer if God, Allah and Budda themselves came down and vouched for the safeness of this current situation". The larger point being that most intelligent people understand torture to be punitive in nature and unlikely to yield consistant reliable results. The person being subjected will of course talk...but the pressing need is to stop the action ASAP...and the way to do that is to say whatever is perceived as what the torturer wants to hear. It doesn't matter if there is no impending plot if that won't stop the torture...If a plot will stop it, then a plot it will be. Makes sense, no?

Not a Hunting Dog for Sure

Pelosi was on Lehrer report with her familiar "deer in the headlights" performance. She was hawking the Dem's "New Direction" outline that included a promise to bring the Republicans into the process if the House majority shifts. I don't get it....After the car has been driven into the ditch, you're gonna ask the driver who put it there to help drive the tow truck to get it out??? The current majority is not going to change one iota if they retain contol...they still won't piss on the opposition if they are on fire so why in God's name are the Dem's promising anything other than to do the right things for the country. People don't give a shit if the parties' work together or not... what they care about is whether there is adequate opportunities for their families, realistic approaches to national security, a government that doesn't lie every fucking time it talks, and the idea that gross incompetence is not a good thing for this country. The Dems need to focus on the current failures of the administration and congress and forget about poorly thought out empty promises that no one believes or even cares about.

Congrats to Yanks!

9 Division titles in a row for the Bronx Bombers. The Yanks secured their post-season reservations despite losing in Toronto last night thanks to the Red Sox also losing to Minny in Fenway. The Red Sox are the gift that keeps on giving this year and having their failure morph into the Yankee clinch makes it even more sweet.

Torture? We don't know about no stinkin torture....

The WH trotted out Alberto G. to comment on the Arar torture rendition case and he predicably absolved the admin of any culpability. He was "deported" per our countries immigration laws...Huh? Canada is thataway Bertie....He also said that he didn't know if he was tortured...not sure if he meant the treatment didn't rise to the level of torture (and what does these days) or that Arar was not to be believed. Either way G-man was most certainly lying and not making an especially good job of it. I mean the Canadian government voted unanimously to apologize to Arar but the US cannot admit that anything and I mean anything it does is wrong. I would think that people who support the administration policies would occasionally resent being taken for utter fools....wouldn't ya?

Voter ID's

The House approved a voter ID law along party lines requiring photo ID to vote in federal elections. The repub led vote ostensibly to combat voter fraud that no one can seem to identify. Why doesn't some enterprising reporter ask the house leadership where...exactly where is the problem that necessitates this law? What evidence do they have of previous voter fraud? This is what they spend time and money on. Why not just go to a bar and get drunk...there would be less damage done that way. I would have more respect for them if the would just say they really only want the money and power that come with the office....getting anything substantial accomplished doesn't enter into the equation in the least. Pitiful....just pitiful.

Yanks very close

One more win and the Yankees win their 9th division title. I think this year may turn differently for the Yanks as they appear to be playing a "team 1st style" reminiscent of the late 90's teams. Pitching will always be key and the 5 game divisional playoffs really favor the hot team at the moment but I like the Bomber's chances given they way they have conducted business thus far.

Valley of the Sun

ok.....Phoenix is a very nice town I suppose but if you come to visit do NOT stay downtown. Haven't seen any evidence of a decent restaurant nor do the the people appear completely normal...not sure why but I will investigate...maybe the heat.

There's no hope for hoping

I'm my worst enemy for sports predictions and best case personal scenarios....typical day for both.

Briefly....if you are going to wait a hour plus for a table with a 2 year old in tow and they give you a pager...check if the mofo works because all the accompanying blinkly lights in the world aren't gonna mean jack if the device is in your back pocket. You paged me????? Here's your fucking pager honey...you see any shaking going on? Yes, I see the lights....very pretty...unlike you...just get the table and my wine please.

Random Thoughts and Quick Hits

* Is it just me or does Jason Varitek of The Red Sox look ridiculous with that big C on his uni? I think most informed fans are aware that he is the captain and for the unfamiliar it may well stand for catcher or "can't hit".

* Good chance for the Yanks to clinch today with a double header sweep.

* SC starts strong again this year...no surprise there. I wonder if Pete Carroll"s SC team could go back in time to play Pete Carroll"s Jets, would they win?....Probably.

* Saw the Allen/Webb dust up on MTP this morning and came away less impressed with both of them if that's possible. I prefer Webb as a Dem but he is not exactly Mr. Personality. Plus Allen just gets under my skin because you know he is the typical poli pandering asshole.

* Perfect Socal beach day today which makes it tough to watch 6 hours of baseball (yank/Sox double header) and 3 hours of football (Jets/Pats) but I'll make do somehow.

Maiden Voyage

I thought of this last night while having trouble sleeping...my original name for this site was "Tell me about it". But ultimately I'd like the site to be about telling a lot of people about what your opinions and thought processes are. I thought it would be nice to have a site that people could go to to get things off their chest, create a dialogue, post an idea, vent and just let loose about anything that was bugging them or might be of interest to like minded folks (or piss off others)

If your boss was being a jerk, someone cut you off in your car, the clerk at the store was stupid or you just stepped in dog shit (literally or figuratively) it sometimes helps to get it out. Could be the manager or coach of your favorite team made a horrible decision...maybe your government invaded a country that didn't pose a threat...God knows there is no shortage of issues in our daily lives that get the blood pumping.

I'm thinking that we'll start to set up some discussion areas like politics, sports, personal relationships, careers etc that will help spur some interesting stories but I don't want to limit any topics or censure any individual thoughts. I wanted to get my inital idea down before it got away from me but I've got a bit of work to do to get things rolling. I hope that it is something that many people will participate in and create a combination opinion forum/social network.
