So, the Yanks are in... and the field for the AL playoff picture looks formidable to be sure but I like the Yank's chances after the year they've had. Mostly written off by the BB pundits, they now have a chance for a pretty nice " I told you so" moment.

The prevailing Repug narative about civil rights since 911 has been that the average citizen should consider themself lucky not to get a trunchen beating for walking down the street....Now we hear that everyone should have a gun..cool..I think I'm gonna get one for everyone in my family..dogs too!

Does this make even the slightest sense? In what possible way did 9/11 affect gun rights? Perhaps someone on his staff could explain?

The races are heating up considerably heading into the last 2 weeks of the season. In the east, the Yanks are suprisingly close to Boston...just 3 games in the loss column. By virtue of winning the season series against the Sox, the Yankees don't need to pass Boston to win the division...they just need to tie them.

They Call it.....

Arlington Cemetary West and is located on the beach in Santa Monica, CA. Each cross represents a soldier who has died in Iraq. I can tell you that it is very hard to see this in person and not get choked up. It sadly brings home the reality of numbers. There were many people leaving flowers and walking silently amoung the crosses. Most were visibly moved by the experience.


They keep a running tally for the week and war. They say if they tried to include the Iraqi numbers, the whole beach would be filled.

That was the last ever heard from the 60-pound Labrador-mix dog, who was hauled over a 5-foot-high fence by the cat, the Pasadena Star-News reported.

Mile Blogging..

Hot, Hot, Hot in CA but fantastic running at the beach because so much is going on...millions of people out and about, brilliant sunshine, deep blue water with dolphins frolicking...before you realize, you have racked up some serious mileage. Hit 50 this week in 6 days....a gratifying milestone as I have never done before....even during marathon training.

Pretty cool and now on to 60 somewhere down the road.
